Team Openings
Here's our roadmap to get a taste of projects you might work on. Sound like your jam so far? Read on for openings.
No active openings — email us if you have ideas
If you don't see something that's a match, feel free to email us if you're interested in joining. You can send a resume and note of interest to hi@staycurrant.com. All roles are part-time and remote, anywhere in the world. We're committed to building an organization that advances equity both internally and externally, through civic engagement minded editorial, creative, and business strategy. If those are elements you bring passion for and experience with, we'd love to hear more.
Real (money) talk: We're bootstrapped and not currently at a place to offer monetary compensation. (Our full team is volunteering their time and work right now.) What we can offer is mutual support and guidance—our team's time, expertise, and commitment to your personal and professional growth. We understand this may limit the spectrum of interested contributors, and we're actively working on a sustainable business model that includes team compensation.
How We Work
The Currant team is made up of empathetic, ambitious individuals with intrinsic drive to do collective good. We’re distributed across the US, with roots and community members all over the world.
Much of our work is asynchronous deep work. Every quarter, we hold a team-wide strategic planning meeting (to dream & scheme, as we call it) to cast long term vision, review ongoing initiatives, and triage upcoming priorities. At our current stage, we don’t overindex on formal goals or performance metrics to achieve, but we regularly assess where we are and where we’d like to be.
We operate on flexible timelines, in sensitivity to socio-political-cultural moments and our personal bandwidths, as we all juggle multiple commitments alongside Currant. (We're people before we're workers!) We generally ship continuous, incremental improvements, rather than big launches.
This works for us because we’re a hyper-self-initiated bunch, and we're great communicators. We maximize cohesion and minimize coupling. We radiate intent instead of moving fast and breaking things. While we collectively provide direction, input, and collaboration, each teammate takes ownership of their own growth and project management. (We mainly work in Discord, Google Drive, Notion, Figma, and Airtable.) Our embedded trust allows for team members to work on what most excites them, as thus far, the important work has gotten done.
